One of the 5,000 reasons I have loved living in smallish Evergreen for over 30 years is the connections I have made. Starting with TallGrass, I've made friends with guests and staff, contractors and suppliers, and fellow business people. Add in involvement with the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce, Mt Evans Home Health and Hospice, EAPL, the Evergreen Rodeo, other non-profits, and the Evergreen Rotary group where I've become especially connected to many dear friends. I've been able to get to
know fantastic people who have supported, advised, and laughed with me over life's daily happenings. All of these people contribute to the world in so many ways and they have taught me so much about living a good, valuable, fulfilling life. This is what it means to have a community of people around you, not just close friends and family but many, many people forming bonds and serving each other.
For me, these connections make my life much more interesting – and easy, too. Need a plumber? I not only know a fabulous company but I know him and his family well. How about having a tree transplanted? Yep, there's a woman in my Rotary group who does that work. Who knows a great foot doctor? I don't, but my network could advise me. And I, too, can pass along my personal contacts and recommendations. Recently, I found an incredible horse to join my ranch from advice given to me by my
farrier and a neighbor who knew an honest man selling great horses. I've now passed his name on to several neighbors. It's not just an internet search. It's a fabulous community of connections and trust is the key.
You are all part of my community and we can support each other by furthering our connections and continuing to solidify our community. A very good thing that our world needs. Now more than ever!
