Yep, that’s me in the Easter Bonnet I wore to my friend’s house for a fabulous brunch and Easter hat contest. It’s my ridiculous way of celebrating and welcoming my favorite season – SPRING!

April is capricious, crazy. You can always count on lots of surprises. Snow one moment, then sun, back to sleet, on to rain, back and forth, back and forth. For me, it’s the anticipatory quality of this month that is so special. Just like the preparation right before a party – a bit chaotic, quite a mess, lots of work, but expectant, exciting, waiting for joy right around the corner.

My tiny ranch is still full of snow, lots of mud and gravel everywhere from plowing. And, it’s also alive with the sounds of birds migrating back. (Oh! Please download Cornell’s Merlin Bird ID app. It’s so much fun to identify birds by their sounds.) Ducks are on my pond, horses and goats are shedding like crazy. This is the “right before” time and I LOVE IT!

I hope you are enjoying the anticipation of April. Flowers, sun, warmth, green grass, and lots of activities are just about here. Come share this unique season in our little valley. It’s incredibly special!
