March 2024

March 24

As I write this, it's Leap Day and this morning I thought "Oh fine, an extra %*%# day to this miserable month!"

Yesterday, I had a few expletives for my coat zipper that wouldn't zip (just as the wind whipped up) and later that day when the internet at my place went out. To add to my whining, my Mohs skin cancer surgery included a new technician who didn't really know how to give proper lidocaine shots nor cut the sutures the surgeon was sewing. Wahhhhh!!!

My morning meditation/prayer time usually can recenter my crazy brain and get me on track, but these days I've allowed myself to choose negative, selfish, nonproductive thoughts and behaviors. Reading through past journals, I see myself often going down this road at this time of year. While it has been true, it doesn't mean I should accept and continue it.

So, I'm doubling down on my work to ask God/the universe to step in and help me refocus on all the good in my life (and there is SO MUCH!). I get an extra day this year to enjoy lunch with my dear friend and to ride my horse with another wonderful woman this afternoon. I am blessed to own a warm coat and have a home that has an internet connection (with a bit of help, I fixed it). So many people in the world would be happy to have a simple, small skin cancer procedure. Instead, they are enduring more serious health issues, or homelessness, or living in a war zone.

Perspective. Gratitude. March is coming tomorrow 😊 and Spring is right around the corner! That is something to be happy about.

I hope you are brushing off any little issues you have encountered and finding strength to get through the bigger ones. I send you my best wishes on this Leap Day and the longer, warmer, sunnier days ahead.
