In my previous corporate life, meetings were tedious affairs focused on negative, punishing remarks with plenty of blaming and shaming. Oh, how happy I am to have left that miserable atmosphere!

Now, I get to participate in our monthly Team Leader meetings which are exactly the opposite. Of course, we talk about our sales numbers and customer reviews and how we can help fellow employees learn and grow. In addition to all that normal, important business stuff, a huge part of our time together is spent sharing our fears and triumphs – how we faced a challenge or how we're struggling with an issue. Typically, we close our meetings by going around the table and sharing our honest insights on "What I learned as a leader this past month." There is laughter, poignant sharing, and sometimes we shed a tear. It's real and it's powerful.

This past Tuesday one of our subjects was how perceptions can become reality. Yes! It reminded me of something I once heard in a movie and scribbled on a piece of paper. It's been pinned on my corkboard for years and I took it down to share. Several Team Leaders wanted a copy and I thought you might like one, too.

Watch your thoughts, they become your words.

Watch your words, they become your actions.

Watch your actions, they become your habits.

Watch your habits, they become your character.

Watch your character – it becomes your destiny.

What we think is what we become.

Sending good thoughts to you. Hope to see you at TallGrass very soon!
