Message from Gail Sharp, TallGrass Owner

My father, Ben Sharp, left this world on June 29. Like many of you, I loved my Daddy dearly. He was my hero, always. Smart, dependable, funny, loyal, successful, the life of the party. I am an only child and was awkward and painfully shy. He did everything he could to help me make friends and to learn how to interact with others.

My dad lived in Kansas City but he loved Colorado with a passion and that love transferred to me. He taught me how to ski, how to play tennis, and how to ride horses. I also got my height, logical mind, sense of humor, and the Sharp nose from him. He encouraged my independence and was behind me all the way.

I will miss him beyond measure. I hope that you will hug a family member or friend tightly tonight. Every day together is so precious. Don't miss a second.

Colorado Delta River Alli Barna, Spa Babe

Alli joined the nail care team at TallGrass almost seven years ago. "I wanted to be in a place that sets the bar high," she says, "a place that stands for something good, with a sense of community. It's a perfect fit."

Working with her hands makes Alli the happiest. A fulltime artist, she began a creative career making custom prosthetic eyes, ears, noses and fingers. Now at TallGrass working in the nail department and participating in our philanthropic programs, she balances that passion for giving with her creativity. And, when she's away from the spa, Alli's busy working on her favorite forms of art - illustration, pottery and sculpture.

Alli loves the people she meets at TallGrass - the friends for life that she's made among the staff - and with her selection as Spa Babe, it's obvious they love her, too.

"It's really hard not to have a good day at TallGrass," she says.

Dog Wash Dog wash benefits animal protective league July 17

Every dog has its day on Sunday, July 17, when lucky canines are transformed from scruffy to fluffy at the 6th annual Wine Washes and Wagging Tails dog wash event benefiting Evergreen Animal Protective League.

We're delighted, once again, to sponsor the doggie makeover which takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Evergreen National Bank drive-thru at 28145 Hwy 74 in Evergreen.

A $20 ticket buys one wash by volunteers for a dog and one glass of wine for its owner. Also available are tickets at the suggested donation of $2 each for a chance to win door prizes including a package of TallGrass spa services, dog goodies and Creekside Cellars wine.

Co-sponsors Evergreen National Bank and Creekside Cellars join us in raising funds to aid lost, abandoned and suffering animals through rescue, shelter and education. Since 1981, Evergreen Animal Protective League has provided a better life for over 9,300 cats, dogs and other pets. We're so pleased to help.
