Message from Gail Ridings, TallGrass Owner

We experienced three heartbreaking events in February. One, the founder of Aveda, Horst Rechelbacher, passed away on Valentine's Day. Horst was an incredible visionary, and he and the company that he started led the world in providing beauty products that are not only good for us, but good for the planet, too. Horst was an early leader in the environmental movement that has now become a part of our daily lives.

On the same day, we lost our beloved team member, Natanya Mallin. Pictured here, she displays the spirit and energy that she carried with her during her life and to her final day. Horst inspired us on a large, global level; and Natanya's inspiration is felt more privately, deep in our hearts. It's not surprising that they both left this world on Valentine's Day, giving us a reminder to focus on love. As the Beatles put it so well "Love is all you need."

Just last week, we had another very sad, yet incredibly heartwarming experience, this time with a TallGrass guest. Accompanied by her daughter and sister, a woman came to the spa and, when checking in, they let us know that she was in the last stages of her life. A visit to TallGrass was on her "bucket list" of experiences before she left this world. As you can imagine, we were saddened by this news and yet honored to be included on her list. She told us she enjoyed her massage and her visit, but it was our TallGrass family who received a gift because she truly touched all of us that day. It is a memory that we will cherish forever. We send our prayers of strength and support to her, to her family and everyone who is bearing a loss or hardship.

Soon Spring will come and renew us!

Cut-a-thon

Passion for our planet is overflowing in the TallGrass hair salon. On the first Monday of April, a day when the spa is normally closed to guests, we're opening the salon for a cut-a-thon event. TallGrass stylists are volunteering their time to give $1 per minute haircuts and get a jump start on our annual Earth Month campaign. All proceeds from the cut-a-thon benefit Western Resource Advocates, a non-profit organization that works to protect the West's land, air and water.

It's won't be a typical spa day. Technically, we'll be closed for our regular first Monday housekeeping. No other services will be available. We're offering just haircuts - and a few surprises, too - so, there'll still be plenty of fun. Call now to reserve your haircut and join us on Monday, April 7, from 1 to 5 p.m., to start your observance of Earth Month and support the effort to protect our western way of life.

Boutique

TallGrass guests are always telling us how much they like our Boutique. And, right now, there's a lot to like because we're brimming with new fashions for spring - tops, dresses, accessories, jewelry, handbags, footwear, hair decorations, PJs, robes, outerwear. Whew!

That's because our Boutique buyer has been a very busy gal. Traveling to the fashion markets several times a year, she looks at the latest styles from thousands of vendors, selecting the items that will be a hit with TallGrass guests. Quality is her number one goal but she also looks for unique items that can't be seen everywhere. And, she gets them at the best price points.

And, don't miss trying on a sweater from Mod-O-Doc, a new line of simple designs in luxurious fabrics like French terry and Cashmere fleece.
