Message from Gail Sharp, TallGrass Owner

Gail

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." - Maya Aneglou.

As we all know - and often don't like - change is constant. This past holiday season without my mother and father was certainly different for me. Fortunately, I made the choice to adjust my attitude and embrace change. And already, plans I had for the first week of the New Year changed when our "Skate the Lake" event on New Year's Eve was canceled due to thin ice. Okay. Plan B. Go with the flow.

The New Year is certain to bring more change. With our recent TallGrass strategic planning session, my team and I are doing our best to create a vision for change that promises pleasant surprises for you. We have a few things up our sleeves for 2017 that we're sure you'll enjoy!

My hope is that your 2017 is a year full of health, happiness, love and prosperity. May all the changes that come be good ones. Or if not, I hope you'll be willing to change your attitude!

Happy New Year!

pen Denise Gongorek, Spa Babe

Denise's role in the Guest Relations department takes in catering, reservations, hostess and front desk responsibilities where her joy and passion serve to make our guests happy. And, she makes us happy, too - just to be around her. That's why she's our Spa Babe!

'Happy' is Denise's buzzword when she talks about TallGrass. "People are so happy when they arrive. Just the drive alone," she says, "it never gets old. They turn the corner, see the mountains, see the spa, walk in the door and say 'Gosh, it's so beautiful!' And, when they leave, they're even happier." That's due - in no small part - to her commitment to excellent service and an incredible work ethic. TallGrass owner Gail Sharp adds: "Denise lives our values."

Denise brings a joyful mindset to TallGrass philanthropy projects, too, like the annual dog wash and the soldier box project. "It's amazing to have these kinds of opportunities through my job," she says. "It makes me feel good to work for a company that cares."

TallGrass Philanthropy 2016

Here's an excerpt from an email we recently received from the Middle East.

"I cannot begin to thank you for the support you provide us while we are overseas. You should see the faces of my sailors light up when they get items in the mail that they cannot get here. People like you who selflessly send item(s) to deployed service members are amazing. It makes us remember who we are out here for and most of all it lets us know that our service and sacrifice is appreciated." - NJR, US Navy Expeditionary Security Forces

Now you can see how important your support of the Soldier Box Project is and why we are stepping it up for 2017. Thanks to your enthusiasm and our company's commitment, we shipped 72 holiday care packages to troops in the Middle East in December. And, the sky's the limit for 2017!

Along with sending the twice-yearly soldier boxes to our troops, we continue to support Mountain Resource Center children's holiday party, Mountain Area Land Trust and Western Resource Advocates' efforts on behalf of the environment, Evergreen Animal Protective League's goal of finding forever homes for pets, and hundreds of non-profits requesting gifts for their silent auctions. We raised and donated more than $20,000 and volunteered almost 3,000 hours.

Last year for the first time, we fielded a team in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. It was such a moving and joyous experience that we're pledged to participate again this year with even more gusto. And, we invite you to join us!

Thanks to our guests and staff and the community for supporting our efforts to help make the world a better place. We couldn't do it without you.

Takoda here! Hello, can you hear me? Why is no one interested in me? Is it because I don't have all my legs? I promise having three legs doesn't change me or slow me down. My foster mom says I am a good boy, I love to cuddle and play, and I am super smart, independent and confident!
